NYU Langone Heart is seeking an accomplished and visionary Physician Leader to join the
Cardiovascular Surgery program at NYU Langone Hospital–Kimmel Pavilion. This role offers
a unique opportunity for an experienced clinician to assume a leadership-focused position
within one of the nation’s premier academic cardiovascular programs, combining
advanced clinical practice with programmatic, quality, and operational leadership.
The Cardiovascular Surgery program at NYU Langone Health is nationally recognized for
excellence, innovation, and outcomes, delivering the full spectrum of advanced cardiac
surgeries including:
- Complex adult cardiac surgery
- Minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery
- Advanced aortic surgery, including the Ross procedure
- Heart transplantation / Mechanical circulatory support (LVAD)
- ECMO
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Transcatheter Edge to Edge Repair (TEER)
Role Overview
This position is designed for a physician with demonstrated leadership capability and
interest in shaping the future of cardiothoracic surgical care. The successful candidate will
provide expert care to high-acuity cardiac surgery patients while playing a key role in
multidisciplinary coordination, quality oversight, protocol development, and education
across the continuum of care.
Clinical responsibilities span the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and acute
cardiovascular surgery units, with expanded leadership opportunities in:
- Implementation and standardization of clinical protocols and best practices
- Quality improvement and outcomes initiatives
- Interdisciplinary collaboration across surgery, anesthesia, cardiology, nursing, and
allied health teams - Education and mentorship of trainees and advanced practice providers
- Strategic growth and innovation within the CTICU and perioperative cardiac care
pathways
This role is ideal for candidates with prior experience or aspirations in clinical leadership,
program development, or operational excellence within a high-performing academic health
system.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with board certification in Critical Care or Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Substantial critical care experience in cardiac anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery
ICU, and/or advanced cardiovascular inpatient care - Demonstrated leadership ability in complex, time-sensitive clinical environments
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and team-building skills
- Eligibility for New York State medical licensure

Compensation
- Salary range: $400 – $800K, commensurate with experience
- Salary listed reflects full-time employment and does not include incentive
compensation or benefits - Final compensation will consider experience, training, institutional needs, and other
