The Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking outstanding Critical Care Anesthesiologists to join one of the nation's premier academic critical care programs. We are recruiting physician leaders who are passionate about advancing patient care, education, research, innovation, and the future of perioperative medicine.
Faculty appointments will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Candidates should be board-certified/board-eligible in Anesthesiology and fellowship-trained in Critical Care Medicine.

Faculty have the flexibility to develop careers aligned with their interests across:
- Quaternary academic ICUs at Duke University Hospital, including cardiovascular, surgical, trauma, and neurosciences critical care.
- Community medical/surgical critical care throughout Duke University Health System.
- Tele-ICU, helping lead one of Duke Health's rapidly expanding virtual critical care program.
- Operating room anesthesiology, with opportunities across multiple adult anesthesiology subspecialties based on individual interests and qualifications.
- Perioperative medicine, including preoperative evaluation and optimization, prehabilitation and nutrition programs, enhanced recovery pathways, and post-surgical/post-critical illness recovery clinics.
Integrated Academic Mission
Our faculty co-lead the Duke Critical Care Collaborative, a multidisciplinary learning health system that brings together physicians, advanced practice providers, implementation scientists, informaticians, analysts, and operational leaders to accelerate innovation, improve quality and safety, and translate evidence into practice across Duke Health ICUs.
Faculty are supported in developing careers in clinical investigation, implementation science, population health, quality improvement, medical education, digital health, health system innovation, and leadership.
