UNC Health Cary Orthopaedics - Interventional Pain/Spine Advanced Practice Provider Position Summary
Cary Orthopaedics is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Interventional Pain and Spine team. This role is ideal for a clinician with a strong interest in spine and pain management who enjoys working in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The APP will work closely with the physician in an outpatient setting, managing patients with acute and chronic pain conditions while receiving ongoing mentorship and procedural training. No call responsibilities are required, and flexible FTE options are available.
Qualifications
- Licensed Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA); both are encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience in pain management, spine care, orthopedics, neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or a related specialty preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Interest in expanding procedural skills through physician mentorship and hands-on training.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
Schedule & Work Environment
- No call or after-hours responsibilities.
- Outpatient clinic setting within a well-established orthopedic and spine practice.
- Opportunity to build expertise in interventional pain management through direct physician mentorship and training.

Education Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
- Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
- No prior experience required.
- Demonstrated clinical competency.
- Effective leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills.
- Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
- Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
